Manuel Otero held meetings with high-level authorities of the USDA and the U.S. Department of State and attended the signing of an agreement between the OAS and Zicosur, which will strengthen the institutional framework of this integration mechanism.

IICAʼs renewal measures are prompting a more proactive attitude among countries in the Instituteʼs governing bodies. The Executive Committee approved the 2020-2021 budget and the key areas of focus of the meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the Americas, which will be held in October in Costa Rica.
The Executive Committee, a governing body of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), brought together delegates from about twenty countries in San Jose, Costa Rica. The participants expressed strong support for the institutional modernization process led by Director General Manuel Otero.
